Epic told everyone to get into the Fortnite Doomsday Device event at 1:30 PM.

At 1:31 PM, Fortnite Support sent out a tweet that the event was “at capacity” and then helpfully recommended that anyone who did not get in within the first minute should watch it via stream.

I have never missed one of these Fortnite live events, and this will be the first time that happens if these queues remain in place. Furthermore, at the current moment, I cannot even boot Fortnite at all from the Epic Launcher, and I know I’m not alone in that, so something is seriously messed up on the technical end. Most Popular In: Games

It is beyond lame that after delaying this event twice, that somehow it’s locked and more or less broken the game less than a minute after people were supposed to show up. I have never seen any event “hit capacity” like this, at least not instantly, and this is way worse the people occasionally being dropped at start time. I’m hearing some people even showed up 40 minutes early and still couldn’t get in.

The event should not be going ahead if it’s only going to be watchable through streams when the entire point is to experience it in the game. Past that, this is clearly more than just a queuing issue if the entire game won’t even boot for some people.

Here’s a livestream:

You might sense that I am a bit salty about this, but Fortnite only does these kinds of things every few months, and if you don’t see them when vbucks generator they happen, they rarely have an encore performance. Sometimes that does happen, like with multiple Travis Scott shows, but for big, map-changing events like this one (which is presumably going to flood the map after the Doomsday Device is active), that isn’t a trick you can pull twice.

I am going to keep trying to log in regardless of what Epic says, but so far I’m not even having luck getting the game to start, much less getting past the server queues. I guess the new rule is what, have the game open and try to get in an hour early? I’m furious that I’ve been prepping for this for a full season and am now going to have to watch it on TimtheTatman’s stream or something.

Stay tuned for further updates, but for now, you can feel free to be as angry about this as I am.
